About
22 years inside the NHS. The last few building the Federated Data Platform at NHS England, leading 150 engineers. Left in March 2026 and started Bartlett Data from the East Devon coast.

I now write, advise, and occasionally irritate people about what is actually happening with NHS data. People come to me for my insider experience and my outsider freedom to speak. I am regularly consulted by journalists, Trust boards, and health technology companies who want to understand a landscape that changes weekly and is poorly explained by almost everyone involved in it.
I am one of very few people who has worked at both Trust level and national level. I understand how data flows from a clinician seeing a patient through to national reporting, and I know where it breaks down.
